སེར་སྨད་མཉམ་ཟ་མཉམ་ལས།

Founder: 86th Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin
The late Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Tharchin of Sera Mey started this food fund by sponsoring its capital on 1st Oct, 1993. To add to this capital, the monastery has sources from those generated from field work, contributions from sponsors of prayer, general offerings, offerings received from offerings at Geshe ceremonies and assistance from exile government for monks who have arrived from Tibet. For years, this food fund had served foods for the monks through the interest that the capital could generate. However, with the rise in the food price and the drop in interest, the monastery faced great problems for some years. Khensur Geshe Lobsang Jamyang, the abbot at the time, earnestly sought help from his students and gave much relief at that difficult time. Presently, Kyabje Woser Rinpoche and his students have been working earnestly on this food fund for which we are all grateful.

Purpose:
Although around a hundred monks received assistance from the Indian govt., many new monks who arrived later from Tibet to study had no financial resource to pursue their study with basic needs. So, to counter their problems and to help others do that they could study without worrying over their basic needs, this food fund was established with a far-sighted vision.

General Kitchen:
Although food is served with whatever means affordable, it cannot be called as completely nutritious. The food served from the monastic kitchen is purely vegetarian and no form of meat is allowed in it.
